Authors, media, corporations, institutions, and meeting attendees are required to abide by the AATS embargo and publicity policies. Individuals or organizations that violate these policies will have their conference credentials revoked and may be prohibited from attending future AATS Meetings or submitting manuscripts to AATS Journals. No public dissemination of research information is permitted prior to the lifting of the news embargo, including social media and electronic or printed publications. The embargo lifts at the start of the study’s presentation or the related press conference, whichever takes place first.
Embargoed press releases on newsworthy AATS Annual Meeting scientific abstracts will be distributed to media outlets by early April. Journalists wishing to speak to a presenter or other participant prior to, or during the meeting, should contact the AATS media contact on the press release.
Public relations officials or firms representing institutions or industry with abstracts in the scientific program at the AATS Annual Meeting should work closely with the AATS to coordinate all publicity efforts. This includes the creation and distribution of any material (print, electronic, video, or audio) designed to facilitate media coverage of a study presented at the conference, including press releases, media advisories, fact sheets, or other media materials.
Those using social media during the AATS Annual Meeting and other meetings should use the designated hashtag and should respect an individual presenter’s stated preference to prohibit his/her presentation or unpublished results from being shared via social media.
Media members interested in attending any AATS meeting to cover stories for consumer, trade, and other media outlets should coordinate their registrations by providing a business card that clearly shows the media affiliation (print, online, or broadcast news organization) and position (editor, writer, producer, reporter, photographer) and at least two published samples of editorial and/or news coverage to the AATS. Media may use handheld audio recorders and still cameras (intellectual property copyrights must be respected) while video recordings are only permitted with the advance permission of the presenter(s).
