69th AATS President, Dr. W. Gerald Austen (1930-2022)
The Association is saddened to report that Dr. W. Gerald “Jerry” Austen, 69th AATS President, has passed away. Dr. Austen was a surgical giant who dedicated his career to advancing patient care and educating future leaders. In a celebration of Dr. Austen’s life and career, the community is encouraged to view his Presidential Address entitled “Eight Former Presidents of the AATS” and his Presidential Prospectus written by AATS Member, Dr. Cameron D. Wright.
2019 Lifetime Achievement Awardee, Dr. Randall B. Griepp (1940-2022)
The cardiothoracic surgical community lost a true pioneer, Dr. Randall B. Griepp. Dr. Griepp was the founding Director of the AATS Aortic Symposium which to this day remains the premiere surgical aortic meeting which is a testament to his leadership and dedication to education.
