Program Overview
The AATS Cardiothoracic Resident Abstract Mini Orals and Poster Competition provides an opportunity for senior cardiothoracic surgery residents and/or congenital heart surgery fellows from around the world to represent their institution by presenting a scientific poster of their clinical/investigative research at the Annual Meeting. Residents and fellows must provide a brief abstract (no more than 2500 characters) regarding the research on their posters. Posters may include research that has been previously presented and/or published. Participants are also encouraged to submit original work that has not been previously presented and/or published. Original posters will be considered for publication in the Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery (JTCVS). Be prepared to present in a mini oral presentation format at the Annual Meeting upon being selected.
Manuscript Submission to the JTCVS
Submission of a poster provides an opportunity to submit an Original Manuscript or Brief Research Report to JTCVS. Please refer to the Journal Information for Authors for submission guidelines and requirements. Should you be interested in being considered for publication, manuscripts must be submitted directly to the JTCVS electronically (www.editorialmanager.com/jtcvs/) prior to the AATS Annual Meeting. To expedite review and publication, you can submit one month prior to the meeting.
Eligibility Requirements
- North American residents must be in their last year of either an ACGME-accredited or RCPSC-accredited cardiothoracic surgery residency program or congenital heart surgery fellowship in the United States or Canada.

One thoracic and one cardiac submission per institution may be accepted for participation in the resident abstract mini orals and poster competition.
