Surgeons from around the world at under-resourced medical centers who treat heart valve disease patients in underserved* populations are eligible for a limited number travel awards to attend the AATS Annual Meeting, taking place from Saturday, April 25, through Tuesday, April 28 at the New York Hilton Midtown and Sheraton New York Times Square. Successful applicants will be reimbursed up to $2,000 after the conclusion of the AATS Annual Meeting to assist with airfare and hotel accommodations.
*The AATS Foundation defines underserved populations as those who have a health disparity, as defined by the CDC, with limited awareness of and/or access to medically appropriate healthcare.
To apply for a travel award, candidates must fill out the application request form and provide information on the role they currently play in serving underserved individuals, as well as how the Annual Meeting will assist them in expanding their patient base.
The AATS Foundation’s Travel Award Committee will review and grade all applicants based on the specific award criteria, with an emphasis on the impact the award may have on treating the underserved population in the applicants’ home country.
