The North America Clinical Immersion in Advanced Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery provides an international training and educational experience for young thoracic surgeons from mainland China to spend between one to three months studying clinical techniques at a host training site.
This program provides an opportunity to obtain expertise in advanced minimally invasive thoracic surgery, comprehensive care screening, and diagnosis.
During the submission process, applicants must select a preferred site and planned time spent at the host training site.

Applications will be reviewed by an AATS Foundation Review Committee, which includes surgeons with recognized expertise in minimally invasive surgery. At the conclusion of their experience, awardees will be asked to submit a final report to the Foundation describing their experience and how they applied their training to clinical practice. Depending on the planned time spent at the host training site as described in the application, a selection of one of the following two levels will be awarded to offset travel and living expenses:
Awards are designed to help defray related travel and living expenses incurred at the North American host training site. Recipients will be recognized at the AATS Foundation Reception during the AATS Annual Meeting.
