MINUTES OF FIRST ANNUAL MEETING
The Annual Meeting of the Association was held in the English Room of the Congress Hotel, Chicago, Illinois, on June 10th, 1918.
Meeting of the Council took place at 9:30 A.M.
Reading and adoption of the minutes of the previous meetings.
There are sixty-five members.
There is no Constitution as yet. The President will nominate a Committee of three with the present President as a member ex-officio for working out a Constitution to be presented next year.
The Council recommended that the following recommendations shall be adopted.
Place and time of the meeting shall be decided each time, by the Council.
The Treasurer's report was then read and accepted. For the present meeting the Council recommends that any member recommended by one or two and those who offer themselves should be elected in the afternoon on the recommendation of the Committee on Nominations.
On the Committee on Nominations members may serve who are at present officers.
Short Business Meeting of the Association followed at 10 A.M. in which the a foregoing minutes were read.
The following members were appointed by the President as a Committee on Nominations for officers and members.
The President also appointed the following men as a Committee on Constitution.
Short business meeting of the afternoon session held at 2 P.M. Those proposed today to be elected as nominated by the Nominating Committee. All others to wait one year.
Report of the Nominating Committee.
For New Members:
It was moved that the Secretary cast one ballot as proposed for officers, seconded and carried.
It was also moved that the Secretary cast one ballot as proposed, for new members, seconded and carried.
Committee recommended that hereafter all nominations lie over for one year. Seconded and carried.
The following members were present at the scientific session.
Also guests among whom were Dr. Kalker of Chicago, Dr. Ewing of New York, Dr. Edward Martin of Philadelphia, Major Fulton of Camp Lewis and Sir James McKenzie of Great Britain.
The scientific programme was carried out as per programme with the exception of "The Remarks Concerning the Employment of the Dakin Solution in Cases of Empyema" were read by Dr. N. W. Green as Dr. Charles L. Scudder was unable to be present. Dr. Walton Martin was also unable to attend and therefore did not take part in the discussion of "Post-Operative Thoracic Drainage."
