Medical students, early career surgeons, and physician scientists can network and build relationships within the cardiothoracic surgical community while gaining insight into the specialty through the AATS Member for a Day Program. Up to 30 candidates will be selected to accompany an AATS Member Mentor during portions of the AATS Annual Meeting.
The 2019 Member for a Day Program will take place at the AATS 99th Annual Meeting in Toronto, from May 4-7, 2019. Awardees will receive complimentary “all access” registration to the scientific sessions at the Annual Meeting, including the AATS Member for a Day Saturday Evening Session, the AATS/TSRA Resident Luncheon, and various social events.
North American medical students, general surgery residents, up to third year cardiothoracic surgery residents (I-6), and physician scientists may apply for this program if they meet the following criteria:
Successful candidates will receive complimentary hotel accommodations for a minimum of three and a maximum of four nights in an AATS Annual Meeting hotel. Additionally, at the conclusion of the meeting, each awardee will receive a $250 USD stipend from the AATS to offset the cost of meals, and an additional stipend of up to $500 to offset the cost of travel.
This stipend is contingent upon attendance at the Member for a Day session from 6 - 8 PM on Saturday of the AATS Annual Meeting, and submission of a report and evaluation of their experience to the Association within two weeks of the AATS Annual Meeting.
