The Resident Poster Competition provides an opportunity for senior cardiothoracic surgery residents and/or congenital heart surgery fellows from around the world to represent their institution by presenting a scientific poster of their clinical/investigative research at the AATS Annual Meeting. Once committed, residents/fellows must provide the Cardiothoracic Residents Committee with a brief abstract regarding the research on their posters. Posters may include research that has been previously presented and/or published.
Residents/fellows’ institutions will receive a stipend of $500 to help offset the cost of travel and hotel accommodations at the AATS Annual Meeting. Additionally, every participant will receive complimentary registration to the Annual Meeting. The respective training program will be responsible for the cost of any additional resident travel and accommodations.
North American residents must be in their last year of either an ACGME-accredited or RCPSC-accredited cardiothoracic surgery residency program or congenital heart surgery fellowship in the United States or Canada. International residents must be in their last year of a cardiothoracic training program at an AATS Member’s institution.
The deadline to submit an abstract for consideration is January 31, 2018. Only one submission per institution will be accepted for participation in this Poster Competition.
Cardiothoracic Residents Committee will review all posters submitted for consideration. The Committee will also serve as the onsite graders for each scientific poster presented during the AATS Exhibit Hall Welcome Reception. Authors must be present at their poster for the length of the Competition to answer any questions that the graders may have during this time. The Competition award winners will be announced during the Awards Presentation session. All presenting authors are strongly encouraged to attend.
All awardees will receive a monetary award and certificate for their efforts.
The application deadline has passed.
