The AATS Cardiothoracic Resident Poster Competition provides an opportunity for senior cardiothoracic surgery residents and/or congenital heart surgery fellows from around the world to represent their institution by presenting a scientific poster of their clinical/investigative research at the virtual 101st Annual Meeting April 30-May 2, 2021. Residents/fellows must provide via the following submission site a brief abstract (no more than 300 words) regarding the research on their posters. Posters may include research that has been previously presented and/or published. You are also encouraged to submit original work that has not been previously presented and/or published. Original posters will be considered for publication in JTCVS.
Manuscript Submission to the JTCVS:
Submission of a poster provides an opportunity to submit an Original Manuscript or Brief Research Report to JTCVS. Please refer to the Journal Information for Authors at https://www.jtcvs.org/content/authorinfo for submission guidelines and requirements. Should you be interested in being considered for publication, manuscripts must be submitted directly to the JTCVS electronically (www.editorialmanager.com/jtcvs/) prior to the AATS 101st Annual Meeting and NO LATER than Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 7:00AM Pacific Time. To expedite review and publication, you can submit one month prior to the meeting.
North American residents must be in their last year of either an ACGME-accredited or RCPSC-accredited cardiothoracic surgery residency program or congenital heart surgery fellowship in the United States or Canada.
International residents must be in their last year of a cardiothoracic training program at an AATS Member’s institution.
One Thoracic and one Cardiac submission per institution may be accepted for participation in this Poster Competition.
Abstracts will be accepted until 11:59PM (ET) on Sunday, January 31, 2021. Authors submitting abstracts for the Poster Competition must use the following electronic submission site ONLY.

The deadline to submit an abstract for consideration is February 6, 2021.
The Cardiothoracic Residents Committee will review all posters submitted for consideration. The Committee will also serve as the graders for each scientific poster presented during the Annual Meeting. The competition award winners will be announced following the conclusion of the Annual Meeting. All presenting authors are strongly encouraged to attend.
All awardees will receive a monetary award and certificate for their efforts.
