AATS Foundation Academic Excellence Award

The AATS Foundation Academic Excellence Award recognizes distinction in scientific presentations at annual meetings of affiliate organizations around the world.

C. Walton Lillehei Resident Forum

Established in 1998 this program supports the participation, travel and expenses of eight resident presentations at the AATS Annual Meeting competing for a $5,000 award. This is a competition open to all residents in CTS training programs. A fair number of abstracts are submitted and the top eight are selected for presentation. Following review of the abstract, the manuscript and the presentation, a “winner” is selected.

Surgical Investigator Program

The Surgical Investigator Program supports innovative clinical or translational research for young Cardiothoracic Surgeons.

Third Andrew Morrow Research Scholarship 2018 – 2020

In 1985, the AATS established a two-year research scholarship awarded annually to a North American surgeon committed to pursuing an academic career in cardiothoracic surgery. Each year the Association honors one of the specialties major contributors to the science of cardiothoracic surgery through their efforts in basic and clinical research.
