The AATS Medical Students' and Surgical Residents' Section has been developed to provide information and resources for the education and training of students and surgical residents, who are interested in pursuing a Thoracic Surgery residency. It is designed to communicate the excitement of the specialty to prospective trainees and encourage them to explore a career in Thoracic Surgery. The site provides a compendium of resources and useful information relating to residency training in cardiothoracic surgery and includes information and pathways to academic training and evidence based medicine, as well as articles and connections to all major cardiothoracic surgery organizations. The mission of this section is to:

| 3. |
Provide a forum for discussion of common issues in graduate cardiothoracic surgical education. |
| 4. |
Provide opportunities for the opinions and comments of Thoracic surgery residents and fellows to be heard by the AATS. |
