Request for Co-Sponsorship of Educational Programs

As recommended by the Education Committee, the AATS Council agreed to consider co-sponsoring up to five (5) educational programs per year limited specifically to the field of cardiothoracic surgery.  If your institution wishes to consider co-sponsorship by the AATS, the following co-sponsorship criteria will apply:

Criteria for Co-Sponsorship

  • The educational program must be institution-based and approved for ACCME accreditation.  Courses conducted by individuals do not qualify for AATS co-sponsorship.
  • Applications for co-sponsorship must include:
    • Name of Sponsoring Institution
    • Educational Topic(s)
    • Proposed Director(s)
    • Dates/Location
    • Proposed Budget
    • Proposed Program
  • The Director of the program shall be a cardiothoracic surgeon approved by the Education Committee.
  • Multidisciplinary participation from faculty across aligned specialties is encouraged.
  • The Director of the program must provide feedback to the Education Committee regarding the educational value of the activity and its relevance to the attendees.
  • Applications for co-sponsorship must be reviewed by the Education Committee and approved by Council at least one year in advance of the proposed program date.
  • Applications must be received by these dates:
    Submission Date Council Action Earliest Program Start Date
    September 1, 2009 December 2009 January 2011
    February 1, 2010 May 2010 June 2011
    June 1, 2010 September 2010 October 2011
