AATS Leadership Academy

Friday, May 6, 2011, Philadelphia, PA
(Immediately prior to the AATS Annual Meeting)

The 2011 AATS Leadership Academy is an intensive didactic and interactive program for up to 20 surgeons who have attained the position of division chief or department chair.


GOALS

  • To provide participants with the administrative, interpersonal, and mentoring skills necessary to serve successfully as a division chief or department chair.
  • To provide an opportunity for participants to interact with well known thoracic surgical leaders who might subsequently serve as personal mentors.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Active/successful North American clinical surgeon
  • Must have achieved the position of division chief or department chair at a North American institution.
  • Applicants in their first 5 years as a division chief or department chair are preferable but not essential.
  • Evidence of continued academic and leadership accomplishments
  • Personal statement outlining future career goals.
  • One additional letters of Support outlining the applicants benefits of participation in the program.
  • Funded research is preferable but not essential

FACULTY
Academy faculty will consist of well-known leaders in cardiothoracic surgery as well as invited guest speakers.

COST
AATS will provide Complimentary Registration to the AATS Annual Meeting and:

  • Two night hotel accommodations
  • All meals on Friday, May 6th
  • Complimentary registration to one Saturday Symposium on May 7th
  • Complimentary registration to one AATS/STS Post Graduate Course on May 8th
Successful candidates are responsible for transportation to and from Philadelphia.
